We live in a time where we are not just given the opportunity to read and experience the world from our seats, but we are given the opportunity to see the rise of extraordinary talent. It is always exciting to explore the World Wide Web and chance upon individuals making a difference. They are the modern day explorers and trendsetters of the online world. Through these influencers, many of us are pushed and motivated to perhaps explore our own creative abilities.

Did you just body shame yourself?

There are days when we jump out of bed thinking, “Today feels like a good day. I am feeling good in my own skin and I am sure I am all sexy!” But then there are days when we just do not want to leave the house. It is a constant struggle as we deal with the battles that go through our head.

Private Space: Does it Exist?

Today, some of us find it acceptable to document Snapchat stories while seated in the toilet or to update our Facebook status about the latest family tiff we had. Nothing is spared when it comes to social media. Does the rise of oversharing revolve around us wanting to be validated through the “likes” and “shares” on social media? But where do you draw the line between oversharing and being private? Think about it.

Technology has opened up the world to us. Today we have the ability to communicate and collaborate with anyone from the comfort of our own bedroom. That to me is a beautiful form of progress. We have worked together to achieve breakthroughs; to find cures; to find peace during wars; to help those who are suffering; and yet somehow somewhere along the way, our ideology and intelligence has gotten stuck in the gutter.

With the introduction of the double blue ticks on WhatsApp or the seen icon by Facebook Messenger, life has changed for many of us, especially when it involves our relationships. Personally this has been a nightmare for me. Not that I am guilty of not responding to messages, but like Gianna I am continuously wondering if my messages are ever going to be replied anytime soon. The wait is always painful.

The Internet was not made for this

Each time I visit a blog, a news portal or a YouTube channel, I inevitably spend more time reading the comments posted by various netizens than the news itself. Most of the time I am left stunned at what is written; I wonder if these keyboard warriors ever take the time to think about how their words affect the writer or the content creator. I hate to say this but unfortunately regardless of our gender, race, or sexual orientation we have all been a victim of online bully and harassment.

Society Socks: Changing Lives, One Pair of Socks at a Time

When the sock was first introduced, it was a piece of clothing that served as a hygienically-minded purpose not too different from a pair of underwear. However, today, the sock is about making a statement as how you would with perhaps your shirt or tie. Gone were the days when you were meant to match your socks with your trousers. Now, the colours, the vibrancy of the sock is about showcasing your individuality.

After over sixty years of nudes – covers and centrefolds – Playboy will no longer be publishing pictures of naked women. This got me thinking about how the Internet is taking charge of our lives. Gone were the days of sneaking home a Playboy magazine, when now all you need is the Internet. Just by typing in the word “porn” on Google you would be greeted with at least 452,000,000 results to choose from.
